Superb and totally on point - I wish I had seen this sooner! Finally, someone who understands Roman history! My temptation was to go the Julius route too, (the personalities are so similar!), but you make a better and more persuasive case for Tiberius Gracchus.

Great article. I think more Americans need to think hard about the destruction of the Roman Republic. It is reaching the point that I have a hard time imagining a real American republic existing 50 years from now. I hope I’m not overstepping to cite a short article I published about this several years ago. The main thesis is that after the final defeat of Carthage, the Roman patricians no longer needed the native middle or working classes—so the republic was doomed from that point. https://cirsd.org/horizon-article/from-republic-to-empire/
