That's an interesting list. I'd like to read some of these books.

Have you ever read James Michener's The Covenant? It's an enjoyable read and was the bestselling American novel of 1980. Michener was maligned by some because they felt he was too sympathetic to the white South Africans. When I read it, I didn't consider it in the context of Carter's betrayal of Rhodesia but when I read it again, I will.

I rank it as Michener's third best novel just behind Hawaii and The Source both of which were seminal works that basically helped to create the historical fiction genre which has been wildly popular for over sixty years.
