Stormy is on point about the state being the prime innovator Vs Silicon Valley clowns. There’s actually a good book called the Entrepreneurial State. Written by a progressive but backs up what Stormy is saying.

From Third World to First is an incredibly good book. It's quite long, but he's a good writer so it stays interesting throughout
