Society needs all kinds of men, from farmers and shopkeepers to soldiers to writers, painters, musicians, and dancers, etc. But I read or watched somewhere that before the Industrial Revolution and the specialization of professions, people would have multiple professions. A man could be a farmer for part of the year, a preacher on Sundays, a carpenter, a woodsman, etc. Thoughts?

Very true. Tocqueville wrote about this

One other distinguishing feature of those men, though particularly before the industrial revolution was their desire to rise and society and their tendency towards aiming for something more than mere existence or accumulation

Yeah, I’m not entirely Anti-Industrial Revolution, but it did do much damage to the old way life.

I think that the last couple of generations, due to all the chaos of the last century, had failed to continue their intentional breeding of attributes.

But I am a troublemaker. I can feel it in my spirit. The result of so many generations of troublemakers before me! Sure hope I can find me a troublemaker wife.
