The most amazing aspect of the suicidal behavior of most western democracies is that the political class who tolerates the barbarians imagines themselves immune from consequences they have imposed on their citizens. Even Muslim rulers know better than to allow their people such liberty to cause chaos. Especially Muslim rulers.

This is a great point, and I find it utterly bizarre how they forget that the wolf eating them last still means that they'll be eaten

On a secular level, it seems to conform to Benedict Beckeld's theory of oikophobia. But I don't think it's a secular problem; it feels like a spiritual wasting disease. I'm no religious fella, but it feels like most people are hypnotized [of their own volition].

Furthermore, it's a global epidemic, which is seldom remarked upon. While the West struggles with any sort of coherent identity, our enemies can barely manage to get along with each other, while their own societies fragment into chaos from the exact same moral malaise and economic recklessness.

Then throw in AI as a wild card: Are we on the verge of being destroyed by our own golem, or creating a new form of intelligence that solve our existential challenges? Only Frankenstein's hairdresser knows for sure...

Idiots with too much money. They cause large scale harm. I guess that there are only so many ways they can do so, like importing foreigners, funding wars, corrupting business, what else. And this just repeats.

I like the notion that heredetary rich families without quality heirs would marry-in external talent, to keep everything functional. Who was this about... I think some hardcore Japanese family.

This analogy can reveal even more functional aspects to the Western story;

The Old English (and Nords and Baltics) were already accustomed to paying taxes. The Danegeld was de facto another tax, and was later replaced by similar taxes. Raiding turned into dominion, when those men became English Kings, and bribes turned into legal taxes.

Which brings to light that the same American men who would be paid to protect citizens, are instead paid to not intervene with government. So unless someone can hire them to do otherwise, this won't change. This is true of the entire judiciary branch.

The executive branch is more turbulent, but they're incapable of rerouting these funds, and it's by design in the Constitution. Only a complete takeover could override Congress, which we should expect in the coming years; most likely from those same thugs who spread their criminal underlings.

I'm no history buff, so I wonder if there's an analogy with a better ending. Somehow the Christian Inquisition (Spain, Rome, France) feels closer to the cleansing needed; strike directly at evil, without trying to redo society a la revolution style.

Well eventually the Anglo-Saxon state got so rotten that first the Danes then the Normans conquered it, and the Normans reinvigorated it in an interesting way

I think a Heritage American resurgence that reimposes hierarchy and tradition a la the Normans, while keeping much of what is good, would be salutary and a close comparison

But we'll see

I like that! The rotten commies will surely revolt and crown their chairman, so we bring a bunch of vikings to take over and set things straight, and then bring some varied Frenchies to mix it up and give it some shape, until finally a mix of Anglos/Welsh/Scots/etc retake control and steer the ship even for a while longer.

Just uh give it a century 😄

I've lived in Japan, Canada and France and observed one nation that refused to play along to the Moslegeld (Japan), while the next found itself pinned down voluntarily by the limp-wristed, drunken jeets and still another is violated by every ne'er do-well.

I must say that I think we need to not only stop paying the geld but also start gelding and hanging the offenders and do so with ruthless cruelty. Our ancestors knew this to be the answer, it is time we learnt this.

I think each of the Satrapies needs to learn this just as the US does. Let us hope though that the enemies of Europe and the Americas start falling apart faster than us.

Excellent article, now back to my history articles and fantasy-fiction.

I look forward to the day we stop paying the Danegeld and stand up for ourselves no matter what may come.
