What are things like in South Africa? What is it like to go from being one of the few successful countries in the Dark Continent to a country collapsing more and more by the day while crime rages out of control, calls for genocide of whites abounds, and the world looks on with a mix of apathy at best and commiseration with those bloodthirsty thugs demanding genocide at worst?
While we in America can visit nearly any city to get a glimpse at such a life, the truth is that only those living the reality of South Africa day by day, a reality America’s evil “leaders” created, know just what the situation is like. That is why we spoke to the Twitter personality “k9_reaper” (hereinafter ‘K9”). K9 lives in Pretoria and documents South Africa’s collapse on X, posting video after video of things falling apart while the government focuses more on helping thugs murder white farmers than patching together functional infrastructure. He also is proactive, leading community safety patrols that help keep the wolves at bay…for now.
To see where America is headed and the dire straights South Africa is currently in, routinely reading his X feed is a must. But, if right now you only have time for a quick glimpse at the future, then hopefully, this article will help you understand the tragedy of South Africa and the fragile nature of civilization.
Speaking with K9: What are South Africa’s Problems
TAT: Let’s just get right into it. How are things going in South Africa? Is the security situation as bad as it sounds, or is the media overstating the extent of its problems?
K9: To cut a long story short - South Africa is in serious trouble, and I don't think we'll make the next ten years without a few serious events going down. A few pointers here, to help you understand. We have 2 to 3 violent incidents' of civil unrest daily, 80 murders daily, 80 hijackings daily, one woman raped every 4 minutes, and 3 to 4 kids murdered daily.
TAT: So it’s like the Wild West but without even the veneer of civilization. What are the cities like?
K9: Crime, as you can see, is wildly out of control. You can't drive around at night because if you break down or get a flat tire, the chances of you being robbed and murdered (in that order) are extremely high.
TAT: And I assume that violent crime is just the tip of the iceberg? Copper cable theft, for example, is something I think you’ve mentioned on your Twitter. Is it a big issue?
K9: Violent crime isn't the only problem. Another big issue is copper cable theft. During rolling blackouts - of which we have many daily - copper cable thieves will steal electrical cable. And because our country lacks the funds, supplies, and manpower to replace the stolen cable, a repair can take weeks. Which leaves you in the dark.
TAT: In San Francisco, there’s a stretch where trains can’t stop because they’ll be pilfered. Is it like that, only more so, in South Africa?
K9: We have trucks ambushed and looted daily. Trucks are literally ambushed to be looted. Rocks are placed under tires, drivers are sometimes murdered, and the contents of the truck are taken. This happens on a daily basis.
TAT: And all that crime is not built on top of a healthy society, right? South Africa itself is falling apart as well, not just the security situation and infrastructure?
K9: Drug dealing is also out of control. The stuff is imported here via foreign nationals, and our non-existent border (literally) is like a free pass for them. You could stop almost anyone whilst out on a community safety patrol, and the odds of them having some form of drug on them is like 90%.
We also have a huge unemployment problem. Our youth unemployment rate is around 60%...The general unemployment rate is like in the 40's if I recall correctly.
We also have increasing events that are leading us closer toward massive - and violent - xenophobic riots. Our country is primed for this, with the hate for ‘illegal foreigners’ growing by the day…and when it happens, it will be the same vibe that Rwanda went through.
TAT: Sounds like Rhodesia under Mugabe. People forget that before murdering the white population, he massacred the Ndebele in the Gukurahundi. I assume it somehow gets worse beyond the violence and utterly shredded state of society?
K9: There’s another serious issue - zama-zama's. They are illegal gold miners who use the old mining systems to mine gold-bearing ore. They're heavily armed and operate on the same level as terrorists, complete with supply chains and training camps. They have tunneled all over the West Rand in Johannesburg and can access any area of the city as a result.
TAT: And that’s in addition to the rampant crime that’s leading to dozens of daily murders and economic chaos.
K9: We're now averaging somewhere around 2 to 3 Cash-in-transit heists a week too, with around 2 ATM bombings weekly to go alongside that. Crime is out of control…no joke. And the only thing currently holding it at bay is first responders like myself.
TAT: If what sounds like cartel-like groups mine gold and run trading camps while no infrastructure works and violent crime abounds, is there even a state to speak of? Sounds like anarchy.
K9: We cannot rely on the police. We cannot rely on the army. We cannot rely on the government. We have to do it ourselves or die.
TAT: Speaking of, what are South Africa’s defense laws? Can y'all use deadly force to defend against the farm murders? And, if technically permitted, does the government still persecute you for doing so?
K9: The use of deadly force in SA is as follows: the threat must be deadly, the threat must be ongoing, and the threat must be unlawful. Fulfill all three things, and you still go to court but have less of a hard time. You can legally defend yourself with lethal force if required to do so…as long as you meet the criteria for it.
Generally, the police open up an inquest case after the event takes place, and you proceed from there. A few weird limitations to consider:
You cannot shoot a guy just for jumping over your wall into your yard.
You cannot shoot a guy through a door if he's trying to kick it in.
You cannot shoot a guy if he's running away, unless he's still trying to commit deadly harm. Most people in SA will tell you to shoot him dead and then place a knife with his fingerprints near him [note from TAT: that comment is not legal advice from us or K9 and should not be taken, under any circumstance, as such].
If you use your firearm on a community safety patrol, you're in deep kek.
TAT: And while we’re on the security situation, what can you tell us about the infamous farm attacks? Are the thugs really using signal jammers?
K9: Ok, so farm attacks in South Africa are extremely brutal events. You’ve got people who are breaking into farms, farmhouses, etc. And they’re not just taking stuff. They’re staying for hours and hours once they’ve brutally tortured these individuals.
Now, the torture can be anything from pouring boiling water over them to literally putting their babies in stoves, burning them with hot irons, shoving broken glass bottles up female anatomy, dragging alive individuals behind vehicles, hanging them, burning them. It’s really, whatever you can imagine as the worst torture method possible; that’s what these individuals are doing.
And one of the favorites, unfortunately, is to attack the farmhouse, break-in, and it tends to always involve rape, unfortunately. So they will rape the daughter, no matter how old she is. Whether she is five years old, ten years old, twenty, etc. And they’ll rape the mother, all the other females. And they do it in front of the males, every single time. The male family members will obviously be tied up, usually shot in the leg, then they’ll proceed to rape the other family members in front of them. Now usually, when they do the rape thing, it usually involves someone dying. And it’s usually the male member of the household because they tend to shoot them when they leave.
Farm attacks seem to be a very racially driven thing in South Africa…at the end of the day, the attacks are mostly blacks attacking whites because that’s just how it is. And somehow, that’s just not apparent enough for people to accept. And, obviously, there’s the brutality behind it when it comes to blacks attacking whites with regard to farm attacks. There’s definitely a racial element to it.
Signal jammers are being used for everything from everything from hijackings, cash-in transfer heists, home invasions, and farm attacks as well. So the signal jammer, depending on the model, works at blocking all incoming and outgoing signals from everything from cell phones to radios to even some security cameras in a range of 25 to 100 meters. The sole goal of a signal jammer is to ensure that your target can’t call for help. The reason they use them for farm attacks is that a lot of farmers are out of the community safety initiative and they rely on radios to be able to call for help to one another, to come and assist.
You’re probably thinking of that famous picture of that guy with the signal jammer backpack during a farm attack. It was like a black-and-white photo, and he had that proper military signal jammer. That wasn’t just anything you could get from Alibaba, or even from Mozambique and just driving it over the border or something. That was a proper military use jammer pack in use with the SADF. You’ll see a lot of military and ex-active duty military personnel in these farm attacks, and they often just take what they need from the military before they go out on the attacks.
In essence, the farm attacks are the most brutal thing anyone can imagine. They make those attacks going on in Israel and Gaza look like a walk in the park. And the use of the signal jammer packs is real. It is happening on a daily basis. Both to the citizens of the Republic of South Africa and to people they want to assassinate.
So yeah, South Africa is an exceptionally dangerous place and it’s never going to change. In fact, it’s only going to get worse, no matter how much we try to stop it. But all we can do is keep trying. There’s nothing more we can do.
TAT: Last question, on the topic of those trying to do all they can. Orania. For those readers of ours that don’t know, Orania is an Afrikaner community in South Africa. A few thousand Afrikaners decided to escape the chaos of urban anarchy and farm attacks more brutal than those seen in the Rhodesian Bush War for the relative safety of their own community. Predictably, as it’s Afrikaner only and is far, far more stable and successful than the rest of South Africa, the woke elites, Marxists, and white-hating “Kill the Boer” types want to destroy it. So, all that being said, why haven’t they? Is there a reason the state isn't trying to destroy Orania? That seems like just the sort of thing the "Rainbow Nation" types would want to crack down on and get rid of.
K9: Any move the state takes towards ending white people will be seen as a genocide. And the rest of the world will immediately shut us down. Plus the state just doesn’t have the resources.
Conclusion: A World Turned Upside Down
As with Rhodesia, South Africa used to be one of the few functional states in Sub-Saharan Africa. There was a thriving economy, you could go outside without being robbed or murdered, flipping a light switch would turn on the power, and farmers were safe to sleep on their ancestral lands without undergoing horrors that would make Pol Pot blush.
Then came America and its “liberal world order,” and responsible government was replaced by the communist-trained terrorist Nelson Mandela, formerly in jail for helping murder dozens of white churchgoers. Now, South Africa is exactly as K9 described it. A nation already in disarray and getting worse by the day.
